Meet Bandit
Bandit is an 8-year-old, 16-pound little guy who is all about the quiet life. He’s incredibly calm, sweet, and cuddly, and most of the time he just wants to be close to his people. He’s perfectly happy hanging out beside you, following along with whatever you’re doing, and taking plenty of naps in between.
Bandit does really well with the resident dog in his foster home and has shown no aggression toward other dogs or people. On walks, he may show some interest in other dogs, but he’s generally very non-reactive. He’s also been intrigued by cats without trying to chase them. He has done well with men and has been friendly with neighbors. He hasn’t been around kids yet, but we think older or respectful children who understand boundaries would likely be the best fit for him.
He’s good on a leash and likes to move at a pretty good pace, although he’ll sometimes keep going until he reaches the end of the leash. He also loves to stop and mark along the way. A fenced yard isn’t required, but we think he would really enjoy having a safe space where he could wander around and explore at his own speed.
Bandit is crate trained and does well in his crate for longer periods of time. He’s still working on house training and does have some marking habits inside, so his foster uses a belly band when needed. He knows to potty outside when he’s taken out, but his future family will need to continue helping him work on those senior-dog habits.
He isn’t very interested in toys, but he does enjoy chewable bones and treats. He’s not possessive over toys or treats and has an overall very docile personality. He’s still learning basic commands, so he’ll need someone patient who understands that older dogs can absolutely learn new things — they just may need a little extra time.
Bandit’s perfect home would be on the quieter, lower-energy side with someone who has plenty of time to let him just be part of the family. He doesn’t need a ton of excitement — he just wants a comfortable place to sleep, someone nearby to cuddle with, and a family willing to love a sweet senior exactly as he is.
