Meet Everly
Everly is a very sweet, gentle girl who has already made so much progress in foster care. She came to us scared of nearly everything and unsure whether she could trust people. With time, patience, and lots of treats, she has slowly started realizing that she is safe.
Everly likes staying close to her people and will quietly follow you from room to room, but she prefers affection on her own terms. She startles easily if she is touched unexpectedly and isn’t comfortable being picked up yet. She wants to be loved so badly—she just needs someone patient enough to let her get there at her own pace.
She is very food motivated, knows how to sit, and absolutely loves soft blankets and sleeping under the covers. Her favorite outdoor activity is sitting under a tree watching for squirrels! She hasn’t figured out toys yet, but we’re hoping that will come as she continues building confidence.
Everly’s biggest struggle is being left alone. She will bark and may have an accident in her crate, so she would do best with someone who is home often and willing to work patiently on her separation anxiety. Because she has previously bitten a toddler after becoming overly interested in him, Everly needs a calm, adult-only home with no young children. We do not believe she was acting out of aggression, but her boundaries still need to be respected while she continues learning how to safely interact with people.
She has not been fully tested with other animals, so any introductions would need to be handled slowly and carefully. She also has a history of chronic ear infections and may have a chicken allergy.
Everly has so much potential. She doesn’t need someone to rush or force her—she needs someone who will give her time, consistency, and the chance to finally feel safe. Watching her begin to trust has been incredibly special, and we know the right person is out there for her.
