We are thrilled you want to volunteer with us. Our volunteers are the backbone of our rescue. You'll find some of the opportunities listed below. Please take a few minutes to read through the website, learning more about the rescue and the stories of the dogs whose lives have been changed through it. BTBR is a foster-based rescue, so we can only save as many dogs as we have temporary homes for them to stay in as they await their forever homes.
Volunteer will call the veterinary office listed on the submitted application, to confirm whether current and/or past pets have been kept up to date on exams, HW tests, and vaccinations; and that they have been altered. Sometimes follow up is needed with the applicant, to confirm or collect information.
Volunteer will coordinate with applicant to schedule a video call, where they will view the applicant's home indoor and out, and get answers to several questions on the Home Visit Form. The application load is split with other volunteers.
Volunteer will reach out to the two personal references listed on a submitted application via phone call, text, and/or email, to discover their relationship type and duration with the applicant and their thoughts on the applicant fostering or adopting, as applicable.
We have foster families located in various cities of North and South Carolina, as well as some in other states across the United States. Sometimes we need volunteers to assist in transporting a dog to a foster or adoptive home.
